Creative Director

As creative director, my responsibilities were to understand, direct, and communicate the vision of the game by creating design briefs, mockups, and general editorializations.

Mockup

A great example of this is the title screen. I had the vision for a dramatic title screen in five point perspective with a simple color palette. So I drew a mockup (pictured to the right) and together (with the work of our amazing artist Matthew Miller and a fair amount of color tweaking) we were able to create that fabulous title that you see above.

Design Brief

I  provided direction for the design, character, and aesthetic of our games three factions. This required, after a prolonged session of ideation, creating a design brief (part of which is pictured to the left) describing each of the factions, as well as giving their role in the game space. I would also go further in the document describing an initial plan for individual units with their unique strengths and weaknesses.

Pitch Deck

As the creative director, it was my responsibility to communicate the vision to those outside the company. In an effort to do this I created a pitch deck (pictured to the right) going over the game to those just joining the team or those interested in investing.

Lead Artist

As the Lead Artist, it was my responsibility to organize and editorialize the work of our art team. I would establish the game's style, provide edits, communicate objectives, and generally direct the art of the game.

Style Guides

I would create documentation detailing the artistic style of the game. This would include the art palette, conventions of the style, technical contractions, and more.

Edits

I would be responsible for making edits to work from the other artists. This would include small tweaks to exhaustive overhauls. This is to ensure that it maintains a consistent style and degree of quality (example pictured below).

Communicating Objectives

Finally I would create SCRUM style spreadsheets communicating the objectives and tasks for the art team and divide them up accordingly.
