All-Purpose Designer on...

Where I Research, Design, Implement, Test, and Redesign

Research

These two games are two major sources of inspiration for the initial design and concept of Crow Heist. They included Untitled Goose Game (game by House House) and Thank Goodness You're Here (game by Coal Supper).

Research and Collect Resources to better understand the the design space, goals, and problems facing Crow Heist's design

"The Level Design Book:" A website that provides insightful and fundamental information for the analysis, theory, and practice of level design.

Design

A level design sketch displaying the structure of the Crow Heist's level Abuela's Home, as well as a few objects of note within.

Create Designs based off those resources to ensure the designs are informed and further the goals of the project

A macro design chart detailing major beats and elements of the design for the first level of Crow Heist: Abuela's Home.

Implement

Implement Those Designs in engine to be tested

An orthographic projection of the grey box of Abuela's Home after leaving the concepting stage.

A perspective projection of the further developed Abuela's Home after the grey box was completed. This includes the addition of premade 3d assets (done by Michael Betar IV), puzzles, and other major gameplay elements.

An orthographic projection of the further developed Abuela's Home from a similar angle as the grey box.

Test

Test Those Designs on fellow developers, friends, and strangers to  determine what works and what needs to be changed

My colleagues and I (seen on the left wearing a blue shirt) playtesting our respective projects at Tinkerfest (@ the Indiana State Museum).

Redesign
